Point guard Emanuel Ginobili and forward Andres Nocione are the stars of the shortlist chosen for Argentina's national basketball team, by manager Sergio Hernandez, for the Japan-based World Cup, local media said on Monday.
Two more players who star in the United States' National Basketball Association��s games, were also shortlisted for the Aug. 19 competition. The other two are pivot Fabricio Oberto, who is also part of the San Antonio Spurs, alongside Ginobili and Carlos Delfino, point guard for the Detroit Pistots.
Also called were Luis Scola, pivot for Spain's Tau Cermica, and forward Wlter Herrmann, who plays for Spain's Unicaja Malaga.
The full team of 11 includes only one player who has remained in Argentina.
The players have an average height of 1.99 meters and an average age of 28.2 years.
Argentina took the silver medal in the last World Cup, which was held in Indianapolis in the United Sates in 2002.
