· Hot new reggae artiste Gyptian hit bound with Beautiful Lady

Undoubtedly the Best New Reggae Act for 2005, Gyptian continues to ride the hit streak. After topping the charts with Serious Times, he is again on top of the charts. This time, he has muscled his way to the top with Mama Don’t Cry.  However there is another Gyptian-sung tune that looks hit bound. It comes in the form of Bring it On.

Bring it On is featured on the Vertex label’s Rebellion rhythm. The rhythm also features Bescenta’s Universal Love as well as tracks from Norris Man, Sojah, Xray and Pam Hall, Fantan Mojah and Bertus.

Bring it On demonstrates Gyptian’s versatility with this mid tempo ditty which provides an antidote to the sameness that we hear pounding the airwaves on a daily basis.  Truth is, this song has a vibe that puts hook and melody at the top of the priority list.  A memorable song which knocks the competition with a quick swipe! Unlike his recording on the Seasons rhythm, we hope that this one isn’t pushed under the rug by radio.

· Dancehall artiste Baby Cham completes sophomore album

It has been almost six year since the release of Baby Cham’s Wow: The Story album on Madhouse Records.  That album peaked at number five on Billboard’s Reggae Album chart.

Now Cham has completed his sophomore album, which he says is due out later this year.  ‘The album is completed. We are just waiting on the right single that will kick off things in a big way,' Cham told this writer last week.

He said the album might be called Ghetto Story which is the title of his latest hit single, which last week took over the number one spot on the Miphone Mega Jamz Dancehall chart.  ‘We are toying with the idea of calling it Ghetto Story. But nothing is confirmed yet,' he said.

Baby Cham is known for hits including Boom, Gallong Yah Gal, Ghetto Pledge, Desperate Measures, Man and Man, Babylon Bwoy and Vitamin S (which peaked at number 56 on Billboard’s R&B Singles chart in 2004).

· Reggae singer Teddy Brown releases new album

New York-based reggae singer Teddy Brown, whose vocal styling is frequently compared to that of the late 'crown prince of reggae' Dennis Brown, is confident that his forthcoming album titled Big Tunes will give him the stateside recognition that he craves. The disc is due in March on the Fugitive Entertainment Record label. “I have a strong gut feeling that this is the album that will give me the recognition that I truly deserve,” Brown said in a recent interview.

He added “I worked with two talented producers. Mr. Val Douglas who worked very closely with Dennis Brown and Peter Tosh when they were alive and Peter Panic who has worked with the likes of Jay Z, 50 Cent and MC Lyte. They have produced a strong album that I believe in hundred percent."

The disc boasts tracks such as I Stand Alone, Nyah Nyah and I Apologize which were leaked to radio jocks in New York and Florida. Brown’s management team headed by Peter Panic disclosed that plans were afoot to host launch parties in New York, Florida and possibly in Jamaica.  “We are hoping to do a big splash here in New York,” Panic said. “Teddy is a rare talent and we are eager to showcase him to the world.”

As a youngster, Teddy attended Peter Claver Primary School, in Jamaica, with fellow entertainment stars including Dean Frazier, Ranking Joe and Earl Sixteen. He was highly influenced by the surroundings and the musical atmosphere these individuals created. He is also a great admirer of Bob Marley and the Wailers, Alton Ellis, The Heptones and his mentor and friend Dennis Brown. “Dennis is my favorite singer and one of the greatest singers of all times. I am humbled to be compared to him,” Brown said.

Brown jump-started his career with his first album - the Inner Circle produced Bad Man Wagon - which was released in 1981. The disc afforded him the opportunity to work with other producers like Bunny Federal, Top Ranking, Music Master, Witty and Short Diamond. His second album was titled Victim.
